Maybe the old Johnny Depp is gone after all. According to Deadline.com, Depp is negotiating to return as The Mad Hatter in "Alice in Wonderland 2." The 2010 film, directed by Tim Burton, made over $1 billion worldwide. "Muppets" director James Bobin will replace Burton on the sequel.
That Depp is playing The Mad Hatter again is actually far from a surprise. When Bobin was announced as the "Alice in Wonderland 2" director by TheWrap back in May,Depp was said to be attached. In addition to "Alice in Wonderland 2," Depp is set to star in "Pirates of the Caribbean 5," "Into the Woods" and, possibly, "Mortdecai," a quirky comedy thriller that was announced this week. The actor will next be seen in "Transcendence," a new film from Christopher Nolan cinematographer Wally Pfister.
